Frequently Asked Questions
When you buy from Cabin Connections, our mission is to connect you with your dreams. You’re working with a local team that’s easy to reach, transparent, and focused on helping you find the right building for your needs. We offer a wide range of sizes, colors, and features so you can get a building that fits your property and your needs: not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Our buildings are Amish-built right here in Kentucky, which means you’re supporting local craftsmen while getting a product made to higher standards than mass-produced buildings that are shipped across the country. The Amish are known for their attention to detail, quality materials, and durable construction, resulting in a structure that is built to last for years to come.
Delivery and setup for most of our new buildings is free for the first 50 miles! After 50 miles, delivery costs $4 per mile.
Additional charges only apply if your site requires a site check (see “What if my building doesn’t fit?” FAQ for details) or if you are purchasing a 16’ wide building with a folding porch (standard on Kentuckian, Leatherwood, and Winchester models). DOT regulations prevent us from transporting buildings wider than 16’, so these side porches must be assembled on-site.
We can help you find a structure that will suit your needs! Site checks are always an option. These are $100 for the first 50 miles and then $2 per mile thereafter. Think of it like an insurance policy: our driver will visit your property, checking the route and your site to make sure your chosen building will fit.
If everything checks out, great! If not, the driver can advise you on what needs to be done to make it work or recommend a building size that fits your property. In the case that your site check shows your building isn’t feasible, or if the site preparation required is more than you want to handle, we can transfer your deposit (minus the site check fee) to a building that will work or refund your deposit (minus the site check fees).
Rent-to-Own (RTO) makes it easy to get the building you need without paying the full amount upfront. You can make manageable monthly payments over 24, 36, 48, or 60 months while enjoying your building right away. This option is also ideal for people who may not be able to pass a traditional credit check.
We understand RTO sometimes gets a bad reputation, but our program is transparent, flexible, and designed to help you get the building you want without hidden fees or surprises.
Rent-to-Own technically does not have an interest rate. Instead, the Rental Company charges a rental fee to spread your payments over a period that works for you. If you complete the full contract, the total cost will be roughly double the initial cash price (exact amount depends on contract length). However, you can save money by exercising your early purchase option at any time during the contract. There is no penalty for paying off early, and the purchase price depends on how far along you are in the agreement.
Your commitment is on a month-to-month basis, so if you decide you no longer want to continue, you can call the Rental Company to have the building picked up. Since there are no credit checks involved, giving up the building early does not affect your credit.
Getting your site ready is easier than you might think, and it helps make delivery smooth and stress-free. Here’s what to do:
Level the ground: A flat, stable surface like gravel, concrete, or even level, packed soil works best. Want your building on concrete but don't want to have an entire pad poured? You can pour strip footers. Ask your salesperson if you would like a diagram for poured footers: these are specific instructions based on the size of your building.
Clear a path: Make sure our delivery truck can reach your site without obstacles like low branches, rocks, fences, etc.
Double-check your space: Measure to make sure your building will fit exactly where you want it. Make sure there is allowance for the driver to get around the building with their mule. (Think of a mule like a specialty forklift for portable structures.)
Think about drainage & utilities: Avoid areas where water could pool and check for underground utilities before placement.
Consider a site check: If you’re unsure, we can send a driver to inspect your route and property to make sure your building will fit safely.
