Standard Features on every cabin connections building

quality is standard

Every new building on our Eastern Kentucky lots is built by Kountry Korner Barns in Mayfield, Kentucky. The good stuff comes standard. These are not upgrades you have to ask for or pay extra to get. It is simply how every building is put together, from the runners on the ground to the siding on the walls, so you know what you are getting before it arrives on your property.

Cabin Connections now has a builder right in Charleston, Missouri who builds every shed, barn, and cabin to the same standard you would expect from the best Amish craftsmen around. Because he builds locally, we can deliver anywhere within 50 miles of Charleston, so you get a quality building without the long wait.

From the ground up

A solid start is what makes the difference

01)

Treated and Notched 4x6 Runners

The runners are the heavy beams your building sits on, and they are the part closest to the ground, so they take the most moisture of anything on the building. Every shed, barn, cabin, and playhouse sits on 4x6 runners that are pressure treated to stand up to rot, fungal decay, and termites. They are also notched, which means the floor joists sit down into cuts in the runners instead of just resting on top. That locks the floor in place, keeps everything square, and gives you a solid base that holds up when the building is delivered and set on your property.

02

Treated 2x6 Floor Joists, 16 Inches on Center

The floor is the part of your building that works the hardest, whether it is holding a riding mower, a gun safe, a tool chest, or a whole family gathered on a weekend. That is why every floor is framed with treated 2x6 joists spaced every 16 inches. Having the joists closer together means less open space between supports, so the floor feels solid when you walk across it instead of bouncing or sagging over time. Because the joists are treated too, the frame under your floor is protected from moisture right along with the runners underneath it.

03

Vapor Barrier on the Roof and Walls

Anybody who has spent a winter in Kentucky knows how much the temperature can swing from one day to the next, and those swings are what cause condensation inside a building. Every enclosed building we sell comes with a vapor barrier on the roof and walls, an extra layer that helps keep moisture from working its way inside. That means less dripping, less dampness, and a lot less worry about mildew getting into whatever you are keeping in there, whether it is your tools, your feed, your holiday decorations, or the furniture in your cabin.

04

LP Siding Standard

Most of our models come standard with LP siding, an engineered wood siding that gives you the warm look of real cedar grain without all the upkeep that comes with traditional wood. LP treats its siding with a blend of binders, waxes, and zinc borate that helps it stand up to fungal decay and termites, which matters a lot when your building is sitting out in the Kentucky weather year round. It also comes with a 5/50 year limited warranty from LP on the walls, so you are not just taking our word for it. Our cabin styles like the Kentuckian and the Leatherwood come standard with log siding instead, and the Storefront comes with board and batten, so every building gets the look that fits it best.

05

Stronger Framing on Longer Buildings

A bigger building carries more weight, so it gets a stronger frame. On every building 32 feet and longer, the 2x4 walls are framed every 16 inches instead of every 24, which gives you more studs holding up the roof and a stiffer, sturdier wall. The rafters move closer together too, set every 2 feet, and our cottage styles step up to 2x6 rafters for even more strength overhead. Those longer buildings also get double headers, which are the beams over your door openings that carry the load above them, so your doors keep opening and closing the way they should for years to come.

Buildings 28 feet and shorter are framed with 2x4 walls every 24 inches and 2x4 rafters every 4 feet, which is plenty for their size.

06

Loft Space on Barn Styles

If you have ever run out of room in a building, you know the floor fills up fast. That is why our barn styles come with loft space built right in, so you have a place up top for the things you do not need every day, like seasonal decorations, camping gear, or extra lumber. High Barns 28 feet and under come with 4 feet of loft, and anything longer gets a full 8 feet. That is a lot of extra storage that never takes up a single inch of your floor, and if you are looking at a Mini Barn, a loft can be added too.

07

6x6 Double Doors on Storage Models

A building is only as useful as what you can get through the door. Our Cottage, High Barn, and Mini Barn styles all come standard with 6x6 double doors, which give you a full six foot wide opening. That is wide enough to roll in a riding mower, back in a four wheeler, or carry in a workbench without tilting it sideways and hoping for the best. Our cabin styles come with full size 36 by 80 inch doors instead, with a window or glass so you get natural light the second you walk in.

Come See the Difference in Person

Pictures and spec sheets only tell you so much. The best way to see what goes into our buildings is to walk through a few yourself, so stop by any of our lots in London, West Liberty, Salyersville, Stanville, or Grayson and take a look underneath, inside, and up in the loft. If you have questions about a specific building, call or text your nearest lot and we will be glad to help.
